This part of the website provides resources for students of environmental history. This includes a basic reading list that gives an overview of introductory literature to the subject. The comparative bibliography presenting literature concerning different parts of the globe and is meant to enable students to make comparative studies in world environmental history.

The next section Environmental history explained is a slide show providing a very short introduction to the field of environmental history. This presentation is far from complete but is just meant to give a flavour of what the subject matter is of this type of history. The research methods sections provide short introductions in the mothods and problems of climate history and it discusses briefly how these tools can complement traditional documentary historical sources. Studying environmental history is a guide to courses in environmental history in Europe but it also contains links to North American institutions.

The timeline gives an overview of key events in European environmental history from prehistory to present. Note that the timeline is far from complete and is higly selective in content. Any suggestions for additions or improvements to the student section are welcome.
